Troop 613 Camping Rules
3/1/2006
- Scouts wear their dress uniforms (“class A’s”) to and from the camp, and anywhere else they go in public during the event. They are encouraged to wear Scout shorts and a troop T-shirt while in camp.
- Scouts are not allowed to use portable electronic devices while camping. They may use them while riding to and from camp, with the car driver’s permission. If they do, the devices must be left in the car during camp. The troop is not responsible for these devices if they are lost. It is recommended that Scouts do not bring these devices except on long trips.
- Scouts are not allowed to bring food into the tents.
- Scouts are discouraged from bringing food other than what is on the patrol menu.
- Scouts are not allowed to bring soft drinks or candy.
- Scouts are not allowed to use pocket knives or other woods tools unless they have earned Totin’ Chip. If they will receive instruction on the campout, they may bring a pocketknife with them.
- Scouts using knives should have a quality folding knife with a blade no more than about 4” long. Locking blade knives are desirable. Scouts are not allowed to carry fixed blades or spring loaded blades.
- Scouts are not allowed to use matches or other fire starting devices unless they have earned Firem’n Chit. If they will receive instruction on the campout, they may bring matches with them.
- No flames are allowed inside tents. No aerosols should be used inside tents.
- If Scouts need to take any medicine while camping, parents must give the medicine to a Scout leader going on the trip. The leader will make the medicine available to the Scout during the trip, and the Scout will administer the medicine himself.
- Parents are expected to be at the church or designated pickup location at the announced time to pick up the Scouts after a campout or activity.
- Patrol and troop equipment will be distributed to the Scouts for cleaning when we arrive back at the church. The equipment should be brought back to the next troop meeting if possible, or else the one a week later.
